Are you ready to GET STARTED?
You want to take up a new sport, but you feel fearful. You want to be in better health, but you can’t find the motivation to make changes. Perhaps you want to run a race. Maybe you create art, but you’ve been too afraid to share it with the world. We could keep going on with that list; I think you get the idea.
Our advice to you is to start.
We understand that’s easier said than done. We get used to the routine in our life; our habits give us some comfort. We know to start means to make an active decision to do something different, and that can be a challenge.
The mind is the battlefield when it comes to starting.
When you start, your mind is probably going to try to talk you out of doing what needs to be done for you to reach your desired goal. You see, you won’t always feel motivated or inspired to do what needs to be done. You have to start doing something.
That’s why we recommend making little changes. If your goal is to run a marathon, but you’ve never run, you don’t have to run a marathon the first time you run. Your goal is to start. Maybe the first step in that pursuit should be to start walking a brisk walk around the block. Choose to do that for a week or two, and you’ll be excited after you’ve met that goal.
You can do this, and as you conquer those little goals, you’ll be better equipped to succeed with the more significant goals.
And if you need some advice on where to take that brisk walk, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite places to get outdoors.
