Tarkiln Bayou Trail Photos

Posted on 19 November 2009 by Shawn

We recently hiked the trail at Tarkiln Bayou. We had never been to Tarkiln Bayou before and it was a nice discovery. The trail to the bayou is an easy hike on paved sidewalks and raised boardwalks. There is another section of trail called the Perdido Bay Trail. It is a longer unpaved trail which we have not yet explored. On the hike we saw Longleaf Pines, Slash Pines, Saw Palmettos, Pitcher Plants, and more. Here are some photos from our hike.

Discovered Tarkiln Bayou trail last month by accident. Nice, handicap-accessible trail and natural area. Nice bog plants too.

Thanks Jay for the comment. It certainly is a nice handicap-accessible trail. There are some nice bog plants including the endangered pitcher plants.
