Family Hiking and Biking Trail at Fort Pickens

Looking for a hiking or biking trail you can take the entire family on? Fort Pickens on Pensacola Beach has many trails the family can enjoy. One section of trail we enjoy connects Battery Worth and Fort Pickens. This trail is part of the Florida National Scenic Trail and is only .7 miles long.

The landscape is made up of small dunes, sand live oak, slash pines, myrtle oak, fetterbush, rosemary, saw palmetto, Cruise’s golden aster, and more. A section of trail runs along a few water channels where you can see many turtles and other wildlife. There is also a bridge you cross and is a great place to see turtles and other wildlife.

UWF Bike Trail Map – Blue Course

This is the blue bike trail located at UWF. This course is approximately 1.8 miles long. The terrain is hard dirt/sand. The blue course is one of the more difficult trails at UWF.

Gulf Oak Ridge Bike Trail

Gulf State Trail – to do a full loop you will need to ride a small section of Perdido Beach Road and State Park Road 2. Green marker depicts the end of paved trail.

Note: this is not the full section of trails. Other paved trails branch off from recorded trails.

Bike the Blackwater Heritage State Trail

The Blackwater Heritage State Trail is a great place for walking, rollerblading, and biking. The trails is part of Florida’s Greenways and Trails. The trail runs from the Milton to Whiting Field Naval Air Station (NAS) in the north. The trail is a nice country setting. On the trip you will see small streams, flowers, farm animals, and other wildlife.

The trail crosses little bridges and only has a few small hills making this is a great trip for the whole family or the individual who wants a little get away.
