The public will have the opportunity to provide input on three new artificial reef site applications in Escambia County’s inshore waters. Once finalized, the reef applications are submitted to the state and federal permitting agencies.

Take your kids fishing at Weeks Bay Reserve. The kids will have fun fishing in a fully stocked pond called the Safe Harbor Pond. The event will be held May 7, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is a free event and is a joint project of the Foundation, the Reserve and ADCNR State Lands Division, Coastal Section and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division.

Safe Harbor pond is located across U.S. Highway 98 from the Reserve Visitor Center. For more information, contact Walter Ernest at (251) 990-5004.

This event is open to the public and will be held at Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze.

  • Cost if free for children 12 and under. Open division is $25.
They will have hotdogs and chips for the kids.
The event will end on Sunday with a fish fry before awards are given out.
  • The captain’s meeting will be Friday, September 18th at 6 pm at the RFRA building.
